Delicious flat white on a rainy November afternoon at Goodies Berlin. Seattle and Berlin are true sister cities, in spirit if not in fact… for those stuck living in cities with sunshine and lousy java, you can make your own miniature Rain Metropolis with a stovetop milk steamer, quality coffee beans, a plaid shirt, Nirvana and this website: www.rainymood.com :))
Not usually a food pornographer, but let’s appreciate having time to make breakfast yesterday (thx Tag der Deutschen Einheit). Cooked up some tasty eggs and tofu with apple sauce and quality drip coffee. Nice, leisurely day on the couch and at the gym, then headed to Brandenburger Tor to see if Germany’s national holiday would yield interesting images. Disappointed by the crowd’s complete lack of flags (does it really take a FIFA Weltmeisterschaft to bring out a flicker of national pride?) and the mediocre band onstage, so I wandered over to the Bundestag to admire the flags in the dusk, listen to Nena’s “Made in Germany” and contemplate my love for this place. Alles Gute, Deutschland.
Downtown Seattle has good taste! (Taken with Instagram)
Reading this excellent biography right now! Three cheers for Lawrence, random Seattle shoutout, and well-written historical bios. :)
Brunchy times! Tasty Milchkaffee with Blaubeer-Streusel Muffin at Wahrhaft Nahrhaft, Berlin-Friedrichshain.
And the (tasty) flipside of those many glorious nights without sleep… many caffeinated mornings. :) This one was a rather scrumptious Milchkaffee at Cafe Kotti, perched above Kottbusser Tor in Berlin.
Say yes to life. Say yes again, and again, and again. Embrace the unknown. It’s not entirely true that you only regret the things you don’t do, but it’s true enough to live by most of the time. :)
